How to keep on-screen keyboard from appearing

I have the Smart Keyboard mated to my ipad pro cleanly and correctly. I’m trying to make documents using Pages, but the Smart Keyboard is unusable. The only options are to use the on-screen keyboard, or the drawing feature appears. This is very frustrating as there isn’t any instruction beyond how to properly mate the ipad with the Smart Keyboard. The help sections are mostly useless.

Keyboard needs to be repositioned on my iPad screen When I attempt to write anything, my keyboard has suddenly decided to position itself in the centre of my iPad screen and so making anything of length almost impossible for me to create because the keyboard is covering up my typing. How do I repostion the keyboard to be at the bottom of my screen? Thank you for any help you might be able to give me.
