IF you need older versions of apps for your older device, there are two ways of getting them.

The first and easiest way is to download the newest app to a newer iDevice, first.

Then go back to your older iDevice, download the newest version of the app, once again, and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you need apps for your older iDevice, if you have a computer with an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.4 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your older iDevice to iTunes on your computer, FIRST.

IF you own a computer with an older version of iTunes already on it, try using that version as an older iDevice does not need the latest iTunes version.

If you have a computer, but NO iTunes on it, here is a link to the older 12.6.3 version for download found in this Apple weblink.

Older versions of iTunes found here.

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

DO NOT download OR USE the latest version of iTunes (version 12.7.x) as there is no more support for saving apps in iTunes under the most recent versions.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7.x version of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunee version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your older iDevice, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iDevice.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more “up to date”, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

Some third party web browser developers supported their web browser on iOS 9.3.5 and are more up to date than the over two year old iOS version of the Safari Web Browser.

If you use iTunes on a computer, some third party iOS web browsers that may still have older versions for iOS 9.3.5.

Dolphin Web browser

iCab Mobile Web browser

Maven Web Browser

Opera Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

I know you want to believe what you're saying, and I've read the procedure for days prior to trying to install. Unless the older versions of Netflix are listed by a different name, they are not in the app store using iTunes v12.6.5.3. I have iOS v9.3.5 and cannot upgrade any higher. I have a Windows 10 PC with iTunes v12.6.5.3 installed.

By the way, the same problem exists with the Curiosity Stream app (CS). I cannot unlink my CS account to my iPad because the older app was uninstalled accidentally by my kid, and the newer app doesn't work on iOS v9.3.5. According to CS I have to sign back up with a different email account. Now ask yourself if that makes any sense?

Your own disclaimer says "Apps may or may not have older iOS 9.3.5 versions still available from within the iOS App Store." This is the brick wall that I have hit!!

"You install the older version of iTunes." (Pass, that works)

"Login to your Apple ID and password in iTunes and download/install the current version of Netflix to iTunes on your computer using the iOS App Store within iTunes." (Fail - DOES not give me an option of downloading anything without the iPad connected).

Too bad I cannot attach the video. Then you will understand what I have written.

I've never seen so many posts of something that doesn't work. My original Ipad came with Netflix already installed. I do not have the option of downloading an older version from the Purchased menu.

If your iPad came with Netflix installed, then you must have purchased a used iPad as no new iPad comes with Netflix installed by default. And if it was already downloaded from the App Store and installed on your iPad when you got it, it must have been done using someone else’s AppleID. So no, it won’t be in your AppleID purchased list because you did not download it. Your purchase list only includes the items you downloaded when logged into the App Store with your AppleID.

What in the world are you going on about? Netflix still has a version available for iOS 9.3.5 and the solution to getting it has been given many times in this thread. As far as any version of iOS being available no matter how old the device that is just silly. Older hardware is 32 bit while the newer versions of iOS are 64 bit.

Apple, as the retailer of developers intellectual property has no legal right at all to continue to distribute software they don’t own when a developer decides to pull their product or a version of their product. What you’re proposing is not only illegal but anyone who’s ever developed their own IP would be appalled if any company even thought of trying that. The retail cost of the device you use your licensed software on has absolutely nothing to do with that.

If I develop an app and sell it in the App Store, and then later decide I no longer wish to sell it, Apple cannot force me to continue to sell it, nor can they illegally keep copies of my software and continue to distribute it.

Apple doesn’t own developers software that they sell through their online App Store. Each developer owns their intellectual property, and Apple cannot distribute it via the App Store without the developers knowledge and consent. And each developer has every legal right to rescind that consent to distribute whenever they wish to.

Thanks that is now bookmarked.

Logging into banks is so laborious on browsers (mine needs a supplied hand-held coding device) where the app just needs one PIN.

Some sites like my favourite LBC.co.uk radio station still fail when trying to stream because it appears to need the 64bit processor just to play sound.

Same for Skype.com.

FYI,

In case you didn’t know.

Microsoft ended ALL support for their apps for older iOS versions and devices back in Jan. 2019.

So, no longer is Skype ( owned by Microsoft ) no longer available for older iPads, so is all MS Office apps no longer available, either.

Yeah, tried that radio station via the actual Website and no luck.

Tried iCab and Aloha Web browsers and no luck.

Still, does not make older iPads useless for regular usage, though.
