IF you need older versions of apps for your older device, there are two ways of getting them.

The first and easiest way is to download the newest app to a newer iDevice, first.

Then go back to your older iDevice, download the newest version of the app, once again, and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you need apps for your older iDevice, if you have a computer with an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.4 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your older iDevice to iTunes on your computer, FIRST.

IF you own a computer with an older version of iTunes already on it, try using that version as an older iDevice does not need the latest iTunes version.

If you have a computer, but NO iTunes on it, here is a link to the older 12.6.3 version for download found in this Apple weblink.

Older versions of iTunes found here.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208079

DO NOT download OR USE the latest version of iTunes (version 12.7.x) as there is no more support for saving apps in iTunes under the most recent versions.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7.x version of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunee version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your older iDevice, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iDevice.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more “up to date”, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

Some third party web browser developers supported their web browser on iOS 9.3.5 and are more up to date than the over two year old iOS version of the Safari Web Browser.

If you use iTunes on a computer, some third party iOS web browsers that may still have older versions for iOS 9.3.5.

You said the Kindle app should run on any platform. iOS is an operating system, not a platform. It will run on iPad Mini. You just need one that is modern enough to run it.

If you think any iOS device will stay current forever, you're dreaming. Technology continues to move forward and at some point, all older devices become obsolete in one way or another. You likely aren't using an iPhone 3G anymore or that flip phone which was so cool in the late 1990's. Why? Because they became obsolete and lacked the features and options of newer technology.

iPad is no different and one purchased 6 or 7 years ago, simply won't do what the newer devices will do. If they did, why would Apple or any company for that matter keep innovating and creating newer features on newer devices?

iOS for mobile Apple devices does not work like regular computer OSes, so many of the rules for normal computer OSes do not apply.

It is what it is.

And it doesn’t matter what I change or do with that user tip.

Everyone, EVERY ONE screws up some part of these procedure because they simply do not more carefully read.

What I did to edit that tip this time was to put that “gist” summary comment I used to reply to you, in a couple or replies back, so users reading that user tip know what the goal is of the basic, initial procedures to get to the goal.

Same trouble, my is old and no more IOS than 9.3.6 but some other programs permit using older versions of Netflix, but once I do the setting the Netflix app doesn´t ask me to install a older version, I simple doesn´t permit options....

This is really bad, becuase we used this tablet for getting kits busy during traveling and now cant use it anymore with netflix, but we can use it with many other apps like youtube, etc

You will have to try just using the actual YouTube Website and log into your account that way.

If YouTube videos still won't play from the YouTube Website in the iOS Safari Web browser, you really should just STOP USING this over 3-year old, unsupported Web browser and try using another, still iOS 9 supported third party Web browser.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I know are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Available and more popular third party Web browser choices are dwindling faster, now.

There are still a handful of iOS 9 and earlier supported third party Web browsers.

Most of these have had recent updates, too!

Here’s what’s left.

If still viewing YouTube on your older iPad is still a problem, then, I am afraid, it is time for a new or discounted, refurbished iPad from Apple
