I have an iPad mini and couldn't download the Netflix app. It's requesting for iOS 10 or later and my current version is up to date. How can I download it please?

IF you need older versions of apps for your older device, there are two ways of getting them.

The first and easiest way is to download the newest app to a newer iDevice, first.

Then go back to your older iDevice, download the newest version of the app, once again, and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you need apps for your older iDevice, if you have a computer with an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.4 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your older iDevice to iTunes on your computer, FIRST.

IF you own a computer with an older version of iTunes already on it, try using that version as an older iDevice does not need the latest iTunes version.

If you have a computer, but NO iTunes on it, here is a link to the older 12.6.3 version for download found in this Apple weblink.

Older versions of iTunes found here.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208079

DO NOT download OR USE the latest version of iTunes (version 12.7.x) as there is no more support for saving apps in iTunes under the most recent versions.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7.x version of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunee version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your older iDevice, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iDevice.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more “up to date”, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

Some third party web browser developers supported their web browser on iOS 9.3.5 and are more up to date than the over two year old iOS version of the Safari Web Browser.

If you use iTunes on a computer, some third party iOS web browsers that may still have older versions for iOS 9.3.5.

Follow my instructions I provided in my link right above your first post on the previous page.and you can download all the older availabke apps you like.

The Netflix app has older versions going all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

What is your problem?

My link has 3 solutions that you can try to get the apps you need for that older iPad using an older iOS.

My procedures work and have worked right along.

Try them.

Uh,

Did you bother to read this entire post or even this entire page?

Tap, read and carefully follow all of my meticulously written out instructions, for my three possible solutions, in my supplied link two replies above your reply.

My procedures DO work for initially getting older apps for older iPads running an older iOS for apps that have moved on to iOS 10 or later.

Netflix has older available app versions that go all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

NO “planned obsolescence” myth required.

You’re Welcome.

First off, thanks for all the tips. First time apple device user and just got given an old ipad 2 for xmas. Followed your guide to the letter but it's still not working. I downloaded the older version of itunes. Went to the app store to get the netflix app (as per your instructions) and it will not let me download it. The download button is greyed out and it states "This app is only available on the app store for ios devices". So I can 't download it. Which means that I'm not able to get the option on the ipad of downloading an older version. Using Windows 7, ipad is on version 10.3.3, itunes is 12.4.3 for windows. Any ideas? kind of heartbreaking not to be able to get netflix as that was going to be 80% of the planned usage of the device?

Followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly. Just as your wise words directed:). So it was the to early version of itunes for 10.3.3 that caused the prob. Thanks you so much for guiding me how to do this (seriously know nothing about i devices) and Now I can nurse my Hogmanay hangover in bed with some soothing netflix. Legend!

I have been posting in this thread post from the very beginning.

Both Apple and that user that posted that are both wrong as I plainly posted very early in this posting.

So...

Apple wants everyone just to purchase a new iPad. Once again, wrong.

I posted my procedures early in this posting to correct that error.

I have been posting my procedures for getting older apps for older iDevices ( of which there are 3 possible procedures/solutions ) for the last 2-1/2 years!

Both that user and Apple’s recommended solution is just plain wrong and incorrect.

Both of those are in error.

Plain and simple.

If you even bothered to read this post, I have offerd a perfectly good set of solutions, many times over in this thread post, to get older versions of apps, like Netflix, to older iOS devices.

If you even bothered to peruse the replies on this page, alone, I presented my three, possible, solutions 6 replies above yours, with a link you can tap on and follow, if that is even possible for you!

It is the same three possible solutions/procedures I have been posting here, ad nauseum, in this post thread AND all over these iPad/iPhone communities for the past 3 years!

Look for it on this page, 6 post replies above your last useless reply comment, and CAREFULLY read and follow ALL instructions and you will GET your older, working version of Netflix back!

It pays to read instead of just posting two totally useless rant/complaint comments, neither of which is allowed in these Apple technical support communities, per the Apple technical support community Terms of Use we all agree to when we sign up here.

No.

They are not.

The Poster that posted right below you got one or more of my procedures that worked.

That person got his older version of Netflix.

So, you are still not doing something correctly.

Try again.

All three of my procedures work and have worked for the past 3 years. Nothing has changed.

If using the iTunes method, best to start with iTunes 12.6.5, first.

Skip/stop using ANY other versions of iTunes and, once again, carefully read and follow the iTunes instructions.

My iTunes procedure works.

You just are either not using the latest 12.6.5 version or something else you’re doing, is simply not correct or you are mis-reading/misunderstanding something.

If you can figure out where you are going wrong, maybe, this time, I will give you the extra help I think you need.

I have been reading through all of these threads, following the thread links, and trying all of the tips. Unfortunately, I the iPad STILL will not download Netflix. I get as far as it asking me if I want to download the last compatible version, I say yes, it goes to the circle with the square in the middle (like it's going to start downloading) and then nothing happens. I've tried restarting everything, signing out and signing in, everything I can find online or think of myself, but no luck. iTunes also gets to the same stage with a few other apps. And, so far, no alert for a software update that we've missed.

Any advice regarding this issue? Is this something unrelated to downloading the app itself?

This is one of the biggest issues I have with my Apple products- they and their ability to use updated apps becomes obsolete so quickly that it makes the purchase of the device somewhat worthless.
