IF you need older versions of apps for your older device, there are two ways of getting them.

The first and easiest way is to download the newest app to a newer iDevice, first.

Then go back to your older iDevice, download the newest version of the app, once again, and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you need apps for your older iDevice, if you have a computer with an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.4 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your older iDevice to iTunes on your computer, FIRST.

IF you own a computer with an older version of iTunes already on it, try using that version as an older iDevice does not need the latest iTunes version.

If you have a computer, but NO iTunes on it, here is a link to the older 12.6.3 version for download found in this Apple weblink.

Older versions of iTunes found here.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208079

DO NOT download OR USE the latest version of iTunes (version 12.7.x) as there is no more support for saving apps in iTunes under the most recent versions.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7.x version of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunee version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your older iDevice, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iDevice.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more ā€œup to dateā€, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

Some third party web browser developers supported their web browser on iOS 9.3.5 and are more up to date than the over two year old iOS version of the Safari Web Browser.

If you use iTunes on a computer, some third party iOS web browsers that may still have older versions for iOS 9.3.5.

Your info is incorrect.

If you use my link below and choose one of its three methods, you WILL get an older version of Netflix to install on your older iPad.

I see this issue constantly and just recently got someone else to use one of my solutions/procedures and got an older version of Netflix.

Netflix iOS versions go all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

If you need older versions of apps that have moved on to iOS 10 and later, tap on my link below and choose the method that best work with your current situation.

CAREFULLY read and follow ALL directions.

All three of my procedures/solutions work!

Older versions of apps may still exist in the iOS App Store, despite the fact the apps may have moved on to an higher minimum iOS version, now.

CAREFULLY read and follow ALL directions. Especially so for my computer/older iTunes procedures.

A Disclaimer.

Apps may or may not have older iOS 9.3.5 versions still available from the iOS App Store.

The Netflix app has versions in the iOS App Store that go all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

If you could not get any three of these procedures/solutions to work for you, you did something wrong.

All three of my meticulously written out procedures work if you follow along carefully.

My 2nd and 3rd procedures/solutions work for sure!

If you can’t get any of these to work you missed something/did somethng wrong!

I am not sure why you are responding to me.

I already know that procedure works IF you had already purchased/downloaded the app to begin with.

That procedure WILL NOT WORK IF you never downloaded/purchased an app before , like Netflix, to begin with.

My procedures are for anyone that never downloaded an app that has now moved on to a higher minimum iOS, now.

To get an app, like Neflix, Hulu, or any other older app, INITIALLY, you WILL need to either, ( 1 ) download the most recent version of an app to a newer iDevice first, then you can use that procedure you have posted OR ( 2 ), if no newer iDevice, install an older version of iTunes, that still allows installing apps into iTunes ( version 12.6.5 or earlier ), and download the most recent version of app to iTunes, then once again, follow your procedure above.

These procedures work for ANY iDevice, not just on iPads.

Then you still do not understand what you read.

Here's the short procedure explanation.

You install the older version of iTunes.

Login to your Apple ID and password in iTunes and download/install the current version of Netflix to iTunes on your computer using the iOS App Store within iTunes.

Then go back to your iPad.

Open the iOS App Store App.

Go to the Purchases section, locate the Netflix app in the listings.

Tap the download ā€œcloudā€ next to the Netflix icon.

If an older version is still available, you’ll get a pop up message stating an older version of Netflix is available for your device and would you like to install it now.

This is what you need to do.

Tap OK within the pop-up prompt.

Break a rule - You could use capitals for us old folk - ā€œlook in PURCHASES do not search.ā€

In defence of myself and others, with most device destinations you expect to find the same thing whichever route you take. There’s always more than one way to get to something on a computer, I used to tell my students.

You get to the same app on a Mac whether you go from the dock or from launchpad.

It is counter intuitive to get to an item in the app store which behaves differently depending on the route you take.

Search is quicker!

My procedure was:
1) On my Windows 10 64 bits installed iTunes (latest version from Apple). iPad mini was connected USB to computer.

2) Logged in and downloaded Netflix on computer. It will give you the error (your iPad is too old... go get a new one from Apple šŸ˜)

3) Go to my iPad mini 1st gen and open App Store.

4) Download Netflix and will prompt to get and older version. Of course!!!
5) Got Netflix installed. Logged in and enjoyed Scorpion series.

Hope this helps. This was done on July 4th 2018. Happy 4th of July...

Your device is not too old to watch Netflix.

That answer is incorrect.

I have an iPad 2 running Netflix fine on an iPad with iOS 9.3.5 - just like it always did.

However, when we factory reset another iPad 2, we were not able to get the appropriate Netflix app through the App Store.

The problem is that the version of the Netflix app on the App Store is only for newer iPads.

The older version has been removed (boooooooo).

We could only get the one that needs a later iOS. (booooooooooo)

I’d recommend phoning Netflix tech support and find out if there’s a way to get the iOS 9.35 version of the Netflix app, and to install it. It’s definitely technical feasible. I’m watching Netflix on iOS 9.3.5 right now.

The question is whether Netflix and Apple will facilitate you getitng the older software to use your older iPad for viewing.

Good luck!
