IF you need older versions of apps for your older device, there are two ways of getting them.

The first and easiest way is to download the newest app to a newer iDevice, first.

Then go back to your older iDevice, download the newest version of the app, once again, and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you need apps for your older iDevice, if you have a computer with an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.4 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your older iDevice to iTunes on your computer, FIRST.

IF you own a computer with an older version of iTunes already on it, try using that version as an older iDevice does not need the latest iTunes version.

If you have a computer, but NO iTunes on it, here is a link to the older 12.6.3 version for download found in this Apple weblink.

Older versions of iTunes found here.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208079

DO NOT download OR USE the latest version of iTunes (version 12.7.x) as there is no more support for saving apps in iTunes under the most recent versions.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7.x version of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunee version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your older iDevice, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iDevice.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more “up to date”, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

Some third party web browser developers supported their web browser on iOS 9.3.5 and are more up to date than the over two year old iOS version of the Safari Web Browser.

If you use iTunes on a computer, some third party iOS web browsers that may still have older versions for iOS 9.3.5.

This version you posted is in my link that contains three discreet procedures for getting older versions of apps for older iDevices

Your procedure ONLY works if you already had a particular app, like Netflix.

This will not work for any users who never downloaded an app initially that has moved on to iOS 10, 11 or 12.

In my link, there are two other procedures to try to get an older version of any app tbat has moved on to an newer, minimum iOS version and that may still have an older version still on Apple’s iOS App Store servers.

Not all app developers have left older versions of their apps on Apple’s iOS App Store servers.

If you need older versions of apps that have moved on to iOS 10 and later, tap on my link below and choose the method that best works with your current situation.

CAREFULLY read and follow ALL directions. Especially so for my computer/iTunes procedure.

All three of my procedures/solutions work!

Apps may or may not have older iOS 9.3.5 versions still available from the iOS App Store.

The Netflix app has versions in the iOS App Store that go all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

There are three ways to try/attempt to get an older version of an app. Pick the method that works best for your situation/circumstances.

How to get Netflix on your version of your iPad

iPad Mini Wi-Fi + Cellular

Go on a device that supports ios 10 or later go into app store> login to your account>download Netflix> go onto your iPad Purchased

Click the Netflix app if it has the Cloud Sign/Logo and then press download/cloud/logo

That's all from me I hope It works

It should work on other apps with the same problem

This is not a helpful answer. You can totally download the old version of Netflix and it works great.

If you haven't already, download Netflix on a newer device. Then open the App Store on you iPad on 9.3.5.

Find Netflix on your Purchases tab, click the download button, it will ask you do you want to install the older version of Netflix. Say yes and the compatible version of Netflix will be installed on your iPad mini.

I have an iPad mini with iOS 9.3.5. Yesterday, I deleted my Netflix app as all it was doing was buffering. However, when I went to reinstall the app I received the message that the app wasn’t compatible with my device. I was successful today in getting it

back on and working by going into my App purchase history. I saw the Netflix icon, clicked on it and it asked if I wanted to download a compatible version for my device. It worked and it’s once again working perfectly. No buffering. Easy fix and no longer looking at replacement devices!

This thread is getting ridiculous. An iPad with 9.3.5/9.3.6 is too old for modern apps. They simply cannot run your desired application anymore, those older iPads are either 2011 or 2012.

The simple solution is to buy a current gen iPad that supports every app in the App Store.

https://www.apple.com/ipad

Some people simply can't afford to replace these very old iPads or are in a situation where they cannot, currently, just go out and purchase a new or refurbished iPad.

Also, no way to know, but some users, who post questions like this , could simply be kids trying to use older, “handed down” iPads.

I try to, at least, help with older iPad users, when a possibility of a workaround exists for these older devices.

It is not ridiculous.

I am not sure what you are trying to state, but older versions of Netflix have been permanently removed by Netflix and are no longer available for initial download from the iOS App Store and have been removed.

The older Netflix versions and can no longer be restore if the older version Netflix app has been removed from older iOS device.

It is no longer possible to get many. MANY older versions of popular, third party apps, for iOS 9 or 10 any longer from the iOS App Store and this inevitability will only be getting worse in 2020.

I have an iPad 2 i'm setting up for my grandson, it is on ios 9.3.5 and had a working version of netflix on it under a different apple user. Last night I reset it to factory setting and set it up with a new Apple profile for him. Low and behold I now cannot download the Netflix app from the app store. I have just sent the device off to have the screen replaced so haven't had the chance to try the methods above but contacted Netflix direct to ask them about this issue and they said that they were aware there was an issue with the app now on older apple devices. They are working on resolving this but couldn't say when it would be fixed by. I'm thinking when I get the iPad back I should be able to login to the app store using my own Apple ID on the old device and then find the Netflix app and attempt to re-download it hoping to get the download older version message up.

The older versions of ANY app are STILL in the iOS App Store.

Many older versions of apps ARE STILL in the iOS App Store.

If you tapped and read my link, there are three, count ‘em, three different ways to get older versions of apps from the iOS App Store for apps that have moved onto a higher minimum iOS version.

The older versions of apps left on the iOS App Store are left at the discretion of the individual app developers.

Netflix has left older versions of its app for any older iDevice users to get any iOS compatible version of the Netflix app for all iDevices that supported iOS 5.1.1 and later.

FYI.

From the device that needs the old version of Netflix

-go to the App Store, at the bottom of the screen go to purchased.

- at the top click on not on this ipad.

***Then at the top left of your screen it says something like my purchases...tap on that and you should get a drop down of everyone in your family sharing. Then choose the ipad device that has the old version of Netflix and download it from there.
