experiencing lag while playing videos

Hi, I am using macbook air 2017(1.8 GHz Intel Core i5,8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3), now a days I am experiencing a lag while paying videos. The issue is strange as the video is lagging only after 5-10 mins and then if we touch the trackpad the video will play smoothly and again it lags after couple of minutes. I used quicktime, vlc, elmedia players but the same issue is happening(tried with different resolution videos). The lag is happening only couple of seconds, and this is irritating while watching movies and all. Please suggest a solution for the problem. Thanks in advance.

MacBook Air, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4), null

Hi there, nikhil_rc!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with videos lagging when you are watching them and I am happy to help out! Take a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Also, check out this article with step for How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac to create a new user and test the issue in the new account to see if the issue is user specific or system wide. Just be sure to test a video after each step.
You should also check out this article for How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac as well as this article for How to reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac.
Let me know the results and have a great day!
