How can I see date modified

Hello I have some old photos I'm trying to manually import into Photos on my Mac. When I see a picture in Finder before importing I see it has a date created, date modified, and date last opened. Some of my pictures have a date created of 12/31/1969 but I can see a date modified of 9/23/2003. Why are these two dates different - maybe my digital camera date was wrong when picture was taken? But more importantly, how do I fix this because when I import into Photos it shows the date created as 12/31/1969 which puts it at the bottom of my sort.

Question: How do i see 'Date Modified' in Photos?

Question: Is there a way to easily change the 'date created' to the 'date modified'?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

You don't see the Date Modified in iPhoto because that's file metadata, and iPhoto looks for the Exif photo metadata.

So, essentially these dates are of no relevance to iPhoto.

In iPhoto you can use the command: Photos -> Adjust Date and Time to correct the dates on the photographs.

At a guess your images have lost their Exif, but as we have no idea what the history of them are it's difficult to explain why.
