export iPhoto 11 library to a new mac with Photos 1.5

Hello, all,

My old MacBook Pro is running Mavericks with iPhoto 11. I need to import nearly 3,000 photos to my new MBP which is running El Capitan and Photos 1.5. Of course, I'd really like to keep them organized into the events they are now in. I have connected the computers via Bluetooth which works fine for all the other files but I cannot seem to make it work for my photos. Can anyone help me?

Help Me Save My Old iPhoto Library I have an old iPhoto library with tons of photos in labeled folders. It is iPhoto 9.5.1 running on a 2013 Mac with OS X 10.9.5. I want to save the pictures and preserve the folder organization. How can I get the iPhoto photos/folders into Photos? Can I upgrade my operating system (thereby upgrading iPhoto to Photos, I guess) and preserve the iPhoto library? I am currently having to manually (folder by folder) import pictures into Photos on icloud and it is taking forevaaaaaa. I can't seem to find a way to get the library efficiently into a newer version of Photos, I think because this old version of iPhoto doesn't have features that would allow the transfer. Please solve this problem, which has plagued me for like five years. Thank you!

Photo Transfer I transferred photos (thousands of them) from an old Macbook via Google Drive to my new Mac Mini. The Mac Mini won't open the iphoto library. I looked for the iphoto library upgrader in utilities and it is not there. I had no problem with music, mac music just imported it all. People must do this all the time, especially photographers. None of the methods for doing a few photos at a time are going to be any good to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
