Icloud for Windows - Constantly Asking for password then the code not syncing

for the past few days, icloud for windows keeps asking me to enter my password, then verify the code sent to my apple devices. I do that and then a few minutes later it does it again. It doesn't appear to be syncing to my windows 10 coputer (ipad <> iphone does seem to work).

I've uninstalled icloud , reinstalled and it still is doing this.

any suggestions as this is getting very annoying.
