unsent text messages disappearing

Hi:

If I start composing a new text message and the iphone locks before I am able to complete and send the message.

I am unable to find the message I was authoring when the messages app refreshes coming out the the lock screen state.

Sometimes I will have spent a non-trival amount of time redrafting a message and

can't control how soon I can return to my messaging task.

This behavior has annoyed me for years.

So I'm hoping that I'm just ignorant of the correct UX trick.

When this happens Is there a way I can recover the authored content ?
