iPod Classic stuck in Accessorize Test

So, I have decided to dig out my old iPod Classic to give to my daughter. It wasn't playing any of the music on it so I decided to go into the diagnostic mode. I got to the Accessorize Test screen, which I don't have a Firewire to plug in. That being said, i know the common answer would be to hold centre and menu to force restart, well, that doesn't seem to be working for me. It doesn't do anything. I was able to do it to get into the diagnostic mode, but can't get it to work again to get out. Anyone else know what I could possibly do?

Thanks in advance!

The other thing that may work is simply letting the battery run completely flat. It should reset when it wakes up on charge. Don't put it on charge until you are unable to see any screen activity when pressing buttons.
