HEVC rendering randomly fails in multi-file renders.

I start a batch conversion using the "Apple Devices 4K (HEVC 8-bit)" preset. Some files will render, but the majority fail. The error is "Failed:3x Host [my computer name] The operation could not be completed". Then I drop the files back into Compressor that failed and render them again and some will now render and some still fail. If you put them in one in a batch, they seem to render fine. Watching iStats Menus, it seems to only be using GPU.

I tested rendering off different drives. I tested different source codecs. I reset compressor in the preferences.

I'd do a total reset to Compressor, and if that doesn't do the trick, reinstall. I'll explain.

I find it curious you spent all that money on all those cores and RAM but got the weaker of the GPU options. That GPU being a Vega 64 would have given you much more power than more cores over 10, and more RAM over 32. Just very curious configuration.

Back to the issue at hand.

Verify all drives, especially the system drive, have at least 20% of each one's total capacity left as free space on them.

Go to Preferences, Advanced section, and you'll see a Reset Queue button. Click that and select to Cancel All Jobs. Go the the Reset button again, and this time select to "Repair Compressor."

If that doesn't help, get the free app "FCS Remover" from Digital Rebellion, and remove Compressor totally from your system.

Then launch the App Store, to go the Purchased section, find Compressor, click the Install button. I'd run First Aid in Disk Utilities before doing that, also.
