Brightstar Apple GiveBack

Has anybody used Brightstart to recycle Apple Products?

Got a trade-in quote for $50 for a good condition, no cracks/nicks iPad. Sent last week and got reply back from Brightstar saying that is worth $0 after they received and inspected it. Brightstart claims display is cracked on my "iPhone". They include mixed pictures for my iPad an iPhone with cracked screen. Looked like they were expecting for me say "keep it" since it worth nothing.

Deceiving, Brightstart, scheme!

null-OTHER, Brightstar

After several phone calls and 5 weeks later, I finally received my iPad back. Not a scratch. Same condition as when I sent to Brigthstar. During my calls, they told me that they run out of packaging material and therefore it was taking more than expected to return it. Sounded like everybody was asking for their devices back.

I went to the apple store and asked if they could recycle my 6 year old iPad. They said yes and they gave me the same amount Brightstar offer me in Apple Credit. Less hassle and time spent.

The picture below is what BrightStart used to claim that my iPad was defective with a broken screen according to his report.

No matter how I looked at my iPad, I cannot reproduce this picture. In my opinion this is and iPhone picture and the main reason for my complaint.

I sent off an iPad that was perfect. It had always been kept in a case with a screen protector. They refused it and sent it back with a crushed corner. It is possible it had been damaged in shipping or damaged there. I used their box for shipping. If it had been damaged in shipping, they didn’t take a picture of the box so I could be refunded for the damage. I wouldn’t recommend using their service.

Same issue here, two out of three iPads show up damaged? Hmmmmmm???

Three iPads, theoretical retail value on the Apple Trade in program of a total of $125. All three in beyond excellent condition, shipped at the same time, in the same type packages, boxed at the same UPS Store by the same USP Agent. He confirmed they were in perfect condition as well. I watched as they were packaged, more than enough protection. Somehow, two out of the three show up damaged. Still fighting with them now. They opened and "escalation" ticket on the two, one for each, and here I am 15+ days later with no response. I have called multiple times and they somehow do not have a "supervisor" nor do they have anyone at the "escalations" department that you can actually speak with. Sounds like I may have to contact my lawyer friends in both the US and Canada, as Canada is where the call center is when you call in. It should be fun, but I have nothing but time to chase it around. Extremely disappointed with this Apple program. Almost makes me want to abandon them like many others have in the past. I wish they had taken them at the store like it says on their the Apple web site, come in or do it online....
