Batery replacement

Having your phone serviced by an unauthorized service provider will permanently forfeit your right to have it serviced by Apple or an AASP. Exceptions have been made, but they are rare.

Find a 3rd party shop that can help you or buy a new phone. Apple won't touch yours now.

That being said, Apple doesn’t directly operate retail stores in South Africa. Apple sells and has official service done through resellers and certified service shops. Was the place you went to called “iStore”?

I would recommend going to a different shop. You should be able to find one using this:

Where did you take it? I’ve heard of what you’ve experienced. I’ve also heard of customers offered the chance to replace with an OEM screen in order to perform the battery service.
