I was using FaceTime and then disconnected, and now whenever I try and turn off my phone it won’t let me and instead will go to the FaceTime page and says that the FaceTime is “ending”. I exited out of the FaceTime app but it still appears in the background and says it is still trying to disconnect. I am also unable to access the FaceTime tab in the settings of my iPhone. What should I do?
Had the same problem with my iPhone X, here’s the solution: just plug your phone up (like you’re charging it), then lauch the settings app, go to general, scroll to the bottom and click shut down. That should help.
Exact same thing with my iphone X. I cannot get it to force quit. Facetime says it is ending, but it is not ending. cannot make phone calls, but messaging still works. won't let me quit Facetime either, but other apps can be quit. The phone appears to be a useless item, now.
Now, a few minutes later, I quit every app that was running except Facetime (which still would not quit) and then tried the force quit mentioned above and it worked. When phone restarted, calls worked. I have not tried Facetime again because I don't have time to be tied up with the problem, again.
Tried to make a Face Time Call Iphone X
call did not connect, and I could not stop the call
it just continued to ring and ring. Could not power off phone as nothing would come up when holding volume and side button.

finally resetting the phone. 1st time booted but said swipe to upgraded ( it had been upgraded weeks ago )
it was locked in loop would not swipe and nothing was working swipe did not work
reset phone again and finally gained control of phone Iphone X
but there is something wrong with the phone or software as it should not of happened.
I had just picked up the IphoneX phone from table, tried to use face time and could not power off or disconnect face time as no red button on screen to disconnect so it kept tying to connect and it would not time out the call
I tried turning my X off and it wouldn’t do anything. I took the cover off, plugged it in, after six attempts,it finally allowed me to turn it off. The call came through our iPad pros, not sure why it would effect the phone this way. Not doing FaceTime again, not worth losing the phone
Do a forced restart: press the volume up key and release it. Press the volume down key and release it. Then hold in the side button until you see the Apple logo then let go of the button.
I tried the other tips listed above and those did not work. This did work! Thank you so much!
