ipod touch 1st generation model a1213
I put it into recovery mode in i tunes it told me to update and I tried, then it told me it could not because of a problem, so now my ipod screen is stuck in a download screen freeze

Hi again. That was the first thing I did ,it took me to i tunes and told me to update, so I did that,it started the download then i tunes told me it could not update as there was a problem. and then my i pod froze on the update logo. I then followed their instructions to try and restore but my i pod has a permanent screen with the updating logo.
itunes tells me to update, so I press ok, then it says that it cannot as there is a problem, but it has now left me jammed, for on my ipod screen showing is a wire and a disc frozen on the screen.
