Photos on iPhone not saving all edits

iphone 6s on iOS 11.3.

Most of the time after I take a photo, I’ll edit the levels etc, crop, possibly add a filter. Recently the Photo app seems to have developed a bit of a glitch where these edits aren’t permanently saved.

It is rather frustrating to have spent time going through dozens of photos, getting them to a point you’re happy with only to go back to the photo later and find it’s reverted back to the original.

Anyone experienced this or have any suggestions as to a fix?

I have the same issue. I’m using iPhone X on iOS 11.4. It’s very frustrating since even the photos I took in Portrait mode reverted back to a regular non-Portrait photo (wherein the background is not blurred). I had to activate the Portrait mode one by one in all the photos again. Also, some of the photos I’ve edited (using the Photos app) reverted back to the original settings.

Hello All,

I myself am experiencing this issue to the point where it has completely destroyed my love for Apple.

I have had thousands of edited photos revert back to the originals after updating to 11.3. I updated to 11.3 and at midnight every single photo on my phone that had been edited (I’m talking about thousands of edited photos here) reverted back to the original automatically. Now after that incident any time I edit a photo it will revert back to the original at midnight. I have again lost tons of new edits because of this.

Just recently I had a family reunion and did all my editing, we were driving home and I knew I had to make it back before 12 am to get the edited photos downloaded to a computer but there was an accident that set us back on the way home and arrived late and of course all the photos I edited reverted back. It’s a constant struggle.

Nothing you edit is safe and it kills me to think of the countless hours I spent editing thousands of photos just to have them revert back to the original and the edit can never be retrieved back.

I have reported this issue 3 times now to apple over the last few months. Each time they are very unapologetic and rude about it. They offer little I formation and wouldn’t even confirm if it’s being worked on or the issue is known. They basically said issues always get reported to us if it is verified as an issue our engineers will be working on it. But it’s been nothing new, no fixes, no changes, in fact apple hasn’t even addressed this issue publicly despite so many people being effected.

The male apple care consultant I spoke with today said he can’t confirm if the issues being worked on or if it will be fixed he said it could happen with Samsung google any phone all have operating system bugs and said if they are aware the engineers will work on it but as it stands he personally isn’t aware which he says it means the issue is not wide spread or well known otherwise a message would be sent to apple care co sultanas informing them and nothing like that has been received.

This is very frustrating and hurtful as a lifelong apple customer. There disregard for such a major glitch astonishes me. I actually had to send the apple care consultant a link to this message board and others to get him to even acknowledge the issue was real.

No apology from apple for the countless hours wasted and no answers. It’s very unfortunate because I can see this really hurting apple if not handled and addressed properely and professionally.

Unfortunately again, I am another one to add to the list who is being gravely effected by this glitch.

Hopefully apple will take note soon and hear our concerns, I can’t see myself putting up with this issue for much longer, it’s been months and there has been zero change or improvements. If this didn’t change soon apple is going to loose a lot of people and it’s very unfortunate they aren’t taking this issue more seriously.
