iTunes error 5104: Cannot transfer rented iTunes movie to iPhone.

Hi Team,

I get an iTunes error 5104 when I try to transfer a rented iTunes movie to my iPhone. I just rented the movie tonight, iTunes shows I have 30 days to watch it, I am connected to the internet both on my Mac and the iPhone.

This happened with a rental last week and tonight with a different rental.

How do I fix this?

Thank you.

Hey B_88mph,

It sounds like you're having trouble watching your rented movie because of that error you're seeing when transferring the rental over to your iPhone. I'll be happy to help out.

Take a look at the steps here as they have some of the best troubleshooting steps to resolve rental issues like the one you're describing: If you can't stream or watch video content from the iTunes Store or third-party apps

If you're still having trouble, have you tried streaming the rental from your iPhone without transferring it over from iTunes? Here's how:

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Open the iTunes Store app and search for the movie that you rented.

You can also find your rentals in the TV app or Videos app. In the TV app, tap Library and look for the Rentals section. In the Videos app, tap Rentals. If you don’t have any current rentals on the Apple ID that you're signed in with, you won't see a Rentals option in either of these apps.
