Change the Text Language in Final Cut

Hi,

I was wondering if changing the language of a specific font is possible in Final Cut?

On Photoshop, you can easily change the language of the font (if the font allows it) to match the character specifications for that language. Here's and example with Bulgarian Cyrillic:

You see, the word is the same but characters such as "д", "в" and "й" are different. I'd like to achieve the same in Final Cut — it might be weird to not be possible.

Thank you.

I think the reason those letters are different is that the font being used is in the italic or cursive style. Both forms are equally "correct". You just need to be sure to choose a non-cursive style font if you want the "д", "в" and "й" forms.

Even if we're able to read both of the examples in Bulgaria, the *official* way to type them is the 1st one.

Thanks for the education. I wasn't really aware of the different forms for lower case cyrillic in Bulgarian. My ancient "Beginning Bulgarian" text from university days doesn't seem to use them. But this lays it out for me

For fonts that do support the Bulgarian forms, you might be able to access them via OpenType features. I don't have Final Cut available at the moment, but in other apps, you would bring up the Font Panel via Format > Font > Show Fonts, select the font, and then click on the gear wheel at the top left and choose "typography", and then see if there a stylistic set or other alternative setting which does the trick.

If I have to be honest, it is not really an issue in Bulgaria. I didn't even know the differences (we're used to any Cyrillic). Some discussions about the Bulgarian Cyrillic started 3-4 years ago, mainly from graphic designers. You can imagine what's like to work with a designer (my situation right now) who insists so much on using the right letters. :-)

It's so easy to switch font languages in Photoshop, maybe Final Cut should add that feature, too.
