Right Shift Key Not Working & Power Button Issues

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), iOS 11.3.1, had some cosmetics liquid spilled on it 2 weeks ago. A day after that happened, the right shift key stopped working (same spot as the spill). Other keys are still functioning. I looked at videos for how to remove the key and clean it, and did so, but it is still unresponsive. You don't realize how much you use that key until isn't working. Any ideas on how to possibly fix? Should I go in through the back, remove the battery section and try to clean it further from that side? I have the screwdriver for it. And yes, the Air is out of warranty.

In a possibly related matter, the MacBook Air was shut off on the weekend (about a week and a half after the Shift key stopped working), and I wasn't able to power it on at all the next day. I went through all of the steps to reset the SMC, but that didn't help. I ended up taking the back off the MacBook Air and disconnecting the battery. I reconnected the battery and pressed the Power button and the laptop booted up. I closed it up and shut down and tried again, but sadly, it once again didn't power up. I took the back off again and repeated the process. The MacBook powered up again. I closed everything up and am not powering it off now. It goes into and out of sleep mode just fine, but won't boot when I press the Power button from full off. Could this be related to the Shift key spill? No fluid entered the keyboard at that area, and it works fine to power off the computer, and when powering on after I open the back, so I don't think it is a mechanical issue.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.
