Has anyone connected a GTX 1080 to Mac mini?

I have a late 2014 Mac mini with a i5 5th gen 2.6ghz dual core processor, 8gb of ram, and thunderbolt 2 ports. How well would it game if I connected an external gpu? What do you recommend?

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

FWIW, any external GPU option (the "adapter box" and the

graphics card) will cost nearly as much if not more than your

MacMini itself.

In addition, macOS only directly supports external GPUs on

the latest Thunderbolt 3 equipped Macs, which the Mini

does not have. There are products with work arounds and

limitations as to the cards that can work.

Bottom line, best to just sell the Mini and put the money toward

a new iMac as it will be the same total cost.
