how do I stop programs from opening when I start my Imac

When I log in to my Imac, lots of apps / programs open up. I did not set it up to do this.

How can I stop this from happening?

Hi,

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Login Items tab.

You can remove the apps from there.

If you're not sure how to do that, select the app name then click - (minus).

* That does not remove the apps from your Applications folder

Which OS are you actualy using, 10.3.9 OS or something more recent? If it is something more recent than with that, when you select Shutdown, is there a checked box that says,"Re-open windows when logging back in"? If this applies to you and you quit with Photos remaining open, it will re-open the Photos.

Uncheck that entry and see if that makes a difference.
