My Polar H10 will not stay connected to Apple watch during my workouts.

My iPhone 7 is updated to iOS 11.3.1 and my 42mm series 2 Apple watch is updated to watchOS 4.3 which is the most current updates available. I recently purchased a Polar H10 heart rate monitor and connected it directly to my Apple watch. The first two weeks I had zero connectivity issues while working out and now it will not stay connected to my watch and the Apple watch heart rate monitor is telling me that I have a heart rate much lower than normal while running full speed for over 2 minutes. Is this a known issue? Do I need to wait until Apple decides to make one of their own. I purchased this Apple watch with the intention that I would be able to workout without my iPhone having to be near. Otherwise I could just connect the iPhone to an arm band and pair it directly to the third party app that comes with it and just get rid of the Apple watch for good. I paid a lot of money for an Apple watch that does not perform as designed. I wish I could get this situation resolved or at the very least get a full refund for a watch that basically is more of a nuisance than what is was marketed for.
