No, my problem is that the reference from the thumbnail (which is correct) to the file on my mac is wrong - i.e. I have to "fix" the reference... did I make myself clear ?
Photos does not have any tools to correct this. Referenced photos are poorly supported in Photos. Frankly, it is a desaster waiting to happen. if something goes wrong, you are in for a lot of work to fix it manually.
If a photo is connected to the wrong original, you have to reimport the correct original, then copy and paste the adjustments from the wrong version to the newly imported version, copy and paste all metadata (titles, descriptions, keywords), and then delete the wrong one from the library. To copy the metadata quickly, you could use this AppleScript: Script: Lift and Stamp all Metadata from one Photo to Other Photos
To create a new library, quit Photos if it is running.
Launch Photos while holding down the options key, until the library chooser dialog appears.
Select to create a new library.
