unable to get audio to work on Dell U2415 monitor from 2017 MacBook pro

Unable to get audio to work on Dell U2415 monitor from late 2017 MacBook pro via USB-C to Displayport cable. When I'm disconnected from the monitor the audio work fine on my MacBook. I enabled the audio button on the monitor but still no audio output.

So my question is, does the USB-C cable connection carry audio as well as video and data? If so, why am I not able to hear anything? I should mention that in the audio setting it lists my output device as a DisplayPort type. Shouldn't that be USB-C instead?

Macbook Pro wont play audio on DELL S3222HN My New Macbook M1 PRO won't play out of the speakers of my New DELL S3222HN Monitor. The options is shown in System Settings. However when I click DELL S3222HN, the volume bar and mute clickbox disable. Anyone have any Ideas? My other drivers seem to work fine.
