No summary tab for my iPhone in iTunes

I'm using MacOS 10.13.4, iTunes 12.7.4.76 and an iPhone X on iOs 11.3.1 (all the latest versions at this time). When I connect my iPhone using a cable and open iTunes I can see my iPhone as a device but there is no summary tab. Clicking on the iPhone icon just collapses or unfolds the list of Music, Films, etc.. How do I get to the Summary tab?
