Welcome to the Apple Community.

(Some previous suggestions duplicated)

Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV

  1. You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
  2. Try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
  3. If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
  4. If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.

If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

You might also try connecting to a different network and then try again on your own, you might try at a friends home or use the wifi hotspot on your mobile phone if you have one.

Despite the signal strength, there seems to be a network issue, preventing the Apple TV from connecting to the internet, and receiving content from Apple’s servers.

  • Try resetting/restarting the router and then starting up the Apple TV again.
  • If that does not fix it, try disconnecting the Apple TV from the network (forgetting) in Settings, then connect again.
  • Some people have fixed it by temporarily using their phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Then set the location manually, then set it to auto, then the other icons return, then get back on the regular network.
  • If that does not fix it, try changing the Store Region/Location to a different one, then back to the correct one. Same for Time Zone. Log out of the account, and back in again.
  • If that does not fix it, try Resetting the Apple TV in Settings.
  • If that does not fix it, try Restoring the Apple TV through iTunes.
