Composing new email: can't select small images to assign hyperlinks to.

Before upgrading to High Sierra, I was always able to compose emails with multiple hyperlinked images. Small images were sometimes difficult to select (the markup/More box would popup and get in the way), but they were ultimately selestable.

Now, I can't seem to select any images - my cursor even disappears when I get close to an image. :/

Any ideas?

It's hard to tell if an image is selected in Mail, but they are selected.

If you put the cursor before the image (or after), then use the arrow keys until you see the insertion point just before or after, hold the shift key and arrow once over the image. It will be selected.
