iPad Pro 12.9” not responding to touch intermittently

I bought an 12.9” iPad Pro 2017 around 6 months ago and since day one I’ve had trouble with the screen not responding to touch intermittently. It will randomly stop responding to my touch for anywhere between 1 and 30 seconds before coming back, it’s most noticeable when typing as letters or whole words will be missed which is infuriating. The home button still responds and usually gets things working again. I’ve also found that having bluetooth off stops it happening quite so often but it still happens (it’s happened a few times just typing this message out). The Apple Pencil always seems to work, it’s just finger touches that stop doing anything.

I kept hoping an update would fix the issue but nothing has changed yet. I love the iPad but this issue is unacceptable for such an expensive piece of equipment and is driving me nuts now. I’ve tried doing an erase and restore twice with no effect. I also keep the screen as clean as I can.

Im concerned about sending this in to Apple to be looked at because it’s an intermittent issue that they may not be able to replicate in the no doubt short testing they do. Has anyone else with this issue had any luck with apple support fixing it?

Everyone one in this and the other 3 post threads in the communities needs to keep calling Apple on this and keep supplying feedback to the iPad feedback page.

These are the only ways to keep hounding Apple on this issue.

Everyone needs to keep supply multiple feedback on this touch screen issue and also, need to call Apple on this issues and keep the call volume on this issue coming.

No other way or methods to constantly keep Apple clued in on this issue.

Everyone in these posts have to keep doing this so Apple stays informed that this a significant hardware/software issue.

Since this just happened to your 2nd gen, 2017 iPad Pro, this is another perfect reason to add additional feedback and to actually call Apple, again, and explain to all customer service tiers that you are now experiencing this on your older iPad Pro.

Apple is not ever going to solve/fix this issue IF no one stays on top of this!

Everyone sticking their heads in the sand and just hoping that Apple finds a solution or fix, is not going to cut it!

This touch scrern issue has been going on for nearly 18 months, now!

Either no one with issue have been reporting enough feedback and making calls to Apple headquarters

OR

It has been like I have been stating all of this time.

This problem is ONLY affecting a small minority of iPad Pro and iPad Air 3 models and there are not enough instances of this touch screen issue happening to bring this issue to the attention and priority to Apple engineers and other cognizant Apple teams and employees.

I had the same error with my 12.9” iPad Pro 2017. Meanwhile it‘s a 2019 model as I had it replaced at least 5 or 6 times. With every iPad I had the problem and of course it‘s also the same with the model I‘m stuck with now as Apple Care did expire meanwhile.

The only thing that I can do to use it at least somehow is by using the Pencil, but that is just a less-then-ideal workaround and no solution at all.

My wife has a first generation 12.9” iPad Pro 2016, she has no problem with the touchscreen at all...
