I purchased the new MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar and I truly love it, it works much smoother than my 2013 MacBook Air. However, I tried turning up the keyboard brightness on the Touch Bar (the buttons are there) but the pop-up showing the brightness level has the circle with a strike through it symbol. What's going on and how do I fix it?
If the ambient light is strong enough, the keyboard lights will be off. Cover the webcam as a test.
You can make changes to >System Preferences>Keyboard for options

Try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
1 Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
2 After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
3 If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
4 Release all keys.
5 Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
