"Your iCloud storage is almost full"

This is doing my head in! I have 50 Gb of storage on iCloud but apparently there is only 64Mb left - yet when I log in to icloud.com there is almost nothing there other than a few iPhone photos. I have turned off every sync, link, drive etc. etc. I can find on all my devices so that nothing more gets uploaded. So my question is:


1. Where is this 49Gb of data?

2. How do I delete data from iCloud?

3. How do I stop getting these constant reminder emails about lack of storage?

4. Why can't Apple produce a simple video guide for numptys like me to explain how iCloud works?


Looking at various forums, loads of people have asked similar questions but none have received a satisfactory answer!
