Logic CPU overload with USB midi keyboard

I have exactly the same problem as fotocodie here :

Logic CPU overload with midi controller

My USB midi keyboard cause CPU overload, but only on the last core when I play.

If I play notes by clicking on the Plugin GUI I didn't have the problem.

So the problem seems coming from the USb midi keyboard.

As fotocodie I tried

- differents logic versions (10.3.0, 10.3.3, 10.4.0, 10.4.1)

- differents OSX (El capitan, High Sierra)

- differents midi keyboards (Korg microkey 61, Akai LPK25, M-audio keystation mini 32)

- differents USB ports and cables (USB3, USB2 with USB2 or USB3 cables, directly connected on the computer)

- delete midi devices et re-connect, regenerate mcfg file

- new project with only one track

It changes nothing.

I also tried pancenter suggestions.

And worse, I previously had a 12 cores Macpro where CPU frequency is only 2.7GHz. I have sold it and bought a powerfull Hack with an I9-7900X processor which go to 3.3GHz, and I overclocked it until 4.7GHz.

But the CPU always goes to the max (see pics included).

I searching for an answer since 4 month and it drives me crazy, I can't play music anymore.

Please help.

Mac Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4), Logic 10.4.1

It's OK when I'm using the Logic keyboard I have the same result as typing on the GUI keyboard (see my 2nd pic).

I am considering to get a midi keyboard (not on USB) that I will connect on the midi in of my audio interface, or connect my USB keyboard on a midi usb host like this

https://www.thomann.de/fr/mode_machines_cerebel_usb_b_stock.htm

you can see that in the pics that I also arm R on the midi track I want to play then select an empty audio track, .

This is a well-know tip to reduce single core cpu, but it's clearly not enough here.

First, you are using a hackentosh, a PC running Mac OS, correct.

Honest answer please, is any of the software cracked/illegal?

With the onscreen keyboards you can play only one note at a time and there is no sustain.

With a controller you can press multiple keys and if you have it setup to sustain after the key is released multiple notes are sounding.

I already done this, I also made a few tricks in Kontakt.

If you look at the pic, my buffer is at 256, it's enough latency for me.

Anyway I tried at 512. This is not normal with the monster computer I have.

On my first machine, under snow leopart with Logic 9, I could work at 64 samples.

And I said when I play notes on th GUI I haven't the problem, so the problem is coming from the USB keyboard.

So it seems it's related to my USB keyboard.

By the way, I already saw all topics about Logic CPU overload.

Interesting. I've never seen that kind of behavior before.

It should definitely not behave the same as your second screenshot and doesn't on any of my systems.

Yes, I saw that.

It shouldn't be different than selecting the actual software instrument track in this instance since you are still routing MIDI to the Record enabled track.

I've bought an USB midi host, this one :

https://www.thomann.de/fr/mode_machines_cerebel_usb.htm

With this device I route midi information from my USB keyboard to the midi input of my audio interface which is thunderbolt (Clarett 8 pre). So the problem could not coming from USB > midi conversion.

But the problem is exactly the same.

I really don't understand why it makes a so huge difference if I press on the plugin GUI keyboard or on my midi keyboard. There is problem with midi inside Logic or something like that... ??

I'm glad to see you here Pancenter because you were the only one to answer Fotocodie…

Yes I use a hackento but my logic is legal (not all Kontakt lib).

But formerly, under different conditions, I didn't have this problem (other machine, Hacken I7, El cap and Logic 10.2)…

About the midi Keyboard use, yes there is sustain, but I played only one note and carefully waited the end of the note when I made the screenshots up above.

I wonder if fotocodie have found a solution…
