MainStage updated to 3.4.0 - - no sound??

As noted, I updated to MainStage 3.4.0 on my MacBook Pro.

Running sound through an external audio interface (Clarett).

High Sierra Mac OS

I get sound when I use GarageBand.

Also, when I use: iTunes, iReal Pro, Safari streaming, etc.

In other words, everything seems to work fine, except MainStage - - no volume.

I can see in my MainStage concerts that my midi controllers are sending midi signals; the keyboard presses indicate the onscreen keyboards are depressing the same keys; CPU usage registers when I press the keys. Just no sound.

When I go to MIDI Audio Control Center - - all hardware seems to be represented (two midi keyboards, the audio interface).

I will say this, I can't get any of the midi controllers to sound the test signal in MIDI Audio Center.

Yet, it all works fine in GarageBand.

Any suggestions? I'm not expert or even close in dealing with the MIDI Control Center but maybe therein lies my problem?

I just can't figure out why GarageBand would work fine and MainStage - nada.

Thanks in advance

macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), 16gb RAM / 1tb int'l - 1tb ext'l

Solved!

On those patches that displayed NO keyboard layers, I found that I had to select their Instrument Channel Strip when in EDIT mode, then select the MIDI input tab, select the 'Keyboard' dropdown list and choose either a direct keyboard, or multi-timbral if I wanted more than one keyboard to play.

Two things you might check.

1. You should check to make sure it's using the sound card you expect. Look on the "Audio" tab of the preferences dialog page.

2. This one bit me recently: Check your "expression" setting in the instrument channel strip. It is normally represented by a green dial near the top of the channel strip. If expression is set to zero, you won't hear anything out of the channel regardless of the fader position.

I also just recalled this point....

Upon opening the updated MainStage 3.4.0, the Sound Library wanted to load new sounds. Naturally, I said 'OK' to that.

At least one time, if not a second time, the download 'Failed'.

My last resort was to reload the entire Sound Library, which appears to have downloaded. At least there were no errors reported.

Since that time though - no sound.

I still have #2 suggestion to try from above reply from notinachos

I think I have it narrowed down....

By looking at the Edit screen, I see - - for some reason - - that those patches which won't play sounds, are showing NO Keyboard Layer(s) above their onscreen keyboards.

So picking one patch after another in Edit mode, I can immediately tell which patch will provide sound and which won't. If they have a Keyboard Layer showing, I know it will play.

So my new question is - - how do I fix the keyboard layer(s) on each patch? In Layout mode, both onscreen keyboards reflect the correct setting for layers. When I click on a keyboard in Edit mode, the instruction pane says there is no modification that can be made from that view.
