Slideshow and screensaver no longer working in Apple TV

Until recently my slideshow worked with Apple TV ( for a couple of years) but now, none of my folders of photos will load. Just constantly says "loading".

I can view all the photos in folders and go to Music to choose playlists to play whilst watching the photos but I have to sit there and move the photos on manually with the remote which is not why I bought Apple TV.

The Slideshow function was what I used most.

The screensaver function alongside the Slideshow button doesn't work either but I don't really use that.

Can you please tell me how to fix this?

I do show my photos a lot on my TV.

I have restarted and rebooted both iTunes and AppleTV many times without any difference.

Home sharing is turned on of course.

If the photo collection is huge, have you tried setting a source folder in iTunes with a limited amount of photos?

The shared folder will have an “Apple TV Photo Cache” folder. If that has erroneous data, then try deleting that folder, so it can be re-created with valid data.

Have you verified that Home Sharing is still active on both the iTunes computer and on the Apple TV?

The screen saver function is two step: You can set a slide show in Computers as screen saver, then select the Home Sharing Photos in the screen saver settings to activate it.
