Can't add new trusted phone (neighbors) for same reason. How do I put phone on lost mode? once I recover phone how can I protect myself in future? Where is the recovery key that apple help talks about?
Sorry this happened. You can still go to http://www.icloud.com and login regardless if you have 2FA or not to put the device in lost mode. From there you can go to applied.apple.com to place your account in recovery mode which will take up to a week to complete but then after you will be all set. (My advice-if you upgrade and get another iPhone just use a new Apple ID until yours is unlocked. )
