logic shuts down when i try to record

i have a RODE usb mic, i can see that logic pro x is picking up sound from it but when i click record it clicks in 2-3 of the 4 beats and then logic shuts off and i have to re open it, i record my guitars through cables into a interface that plugs into my mac that isnt USB and that works fine

any reason it is doing this ? it didn't before i updated the software ?
