Found some lost AirPods

Hi, I’ve found some AirPods on a plane. I tried to hand them in but the stewards didn’t want to know and told me to hand them in at lost property at the next destinatio, in a different country to where it came from! Is there anyway Apple can trace the true owner if I hand them in to an Apple Store?

No, hand it in the nearest police station.

Apple privacy prevent locating/tracing owner.

As far as I know, Apple doesn't track that type of information.
