Mail has an account and password and some related server and port and transport settings for receiving and reading mail via POP or IMAP, and a separate set of account and password and connection settings for sending mail via SMTP or ESMTP.
The account and password can be the same for both or can (less commonly) be different, and the settings vary be mail provider.
You’ll have to do some troubleshooting to get the connection to work; there’s a setting thatks incompatible with your provider.
