privacy.apple.com - What happend with my icloud mail address?

Hello everyone,
Now it is possible to completely delete his Apple ID via privacy.apple.com.
But what happens to the primary iCloud email address?
Is the address available for a new registration after deleting the account?
I have an old MobileMe Apple ID with my preferred email address firstname.lastname@icloud.com.
In the past, it was not possible to transfer this email address to my real Apple ID (the one with my purchases, Apple Music, etc.).
Maybe deleting the account is now the solution?

Though there is no hard information on this aspect of what is a new facility, I cannot see Apple allowing the transfer of an iCloud (or MobileMe) address from a deleted account to another account.
