Trackpad over-sensitivity

I have a Macbook Pro and had a damaged trackpad replaced. The new one is super, super sensitive to the touch. Close proximity (not even touching) causes things to open. Is there anyway to 'dumb' down the sensitivity ? Is this a common issue with trackpad replacements ?

thanx,

You are welcome. Probably a long shot, but can't hurt.

Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time. You may need to do this 2-3 times.

Reset NVRAM/PRAM

Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
