icloud for outlook error no default profile

Hello. I have well-known error can't install icloud because outlook has no default profile - wrong! Fully licensed version of Office 365 installed on brand new Windows 10 Dell laptop. Email default set to Outlook. Tried various version of icloud from 5.1 to newest 7.4 no luck. Installed and uninstalled repaired etc. numerous times. Used uninstall tool to make sure no remnants of a pre-installed Office trial version messing me up. Tried powershell mods recommended, still no luck. My contacts are held in icloud so I really need the icloud tab in Outlook contacts to conduct business. I have icloud installed on other Windows 7 and 10 PC's no problem. I need a solution!

After 3 months and 4 clients with this same issue, finally found a solution online. No other solution also included adding "compatibility mode" to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\icloud.exe

Been there done all of that, as have many others who may never have found a fix. There apparently is a handshake problem between Outlook 2016 (although it's now 2018!) and the icloud client mail/contacts/calendar function, but not all the time. If you have any other solutions....

Are you using an email account on an Exchange server with the Outlook client?

I am trying to duplicate the issue you are having and that may be the only difference in my case compared to you. My setup is a Windows 10 "home-brew" tower with the latest version of Office 365. I have configured Outlook to use a number of email providers, but NOT with an email account on an Exchange server. Regardless, I have had no issues either installing or using iCloud for Windows with this setup.

No I use a local ISP, Optimum.net which shows up just fine in the default Outlook account. Nothing shows for icloud as it won't install. I'm having an IT guy look at it today, and if that fails will speak with Apple later.
