How can I erase the hard drive on my Apple iMac G4/800 flat panel desktop that won't boot...it just click, clicks over and over?

Boot from the original install discs that shipped with your iMac. Use Install Disc 1 > Disk Utility.

Clicking is usually a sign that the disk drive has failed or is in the processing of failing.
You do have everything backed up, don't you?
Thanks. I do have back up on hard drive but now don’t have a Mac. I use iPhone & iPad.
