Deleting files when disk is full

Hi, Im trying to delete files to create space on my MacBook Pro. I am moving files to the trash can but it isn't allowing me to delete it. It keeps saying "The operation can’t be completed because the disk is full". How can I go about deleting files when it isn't allowing me to?

Clearing trash does not free up disk space Hi,I recently noticed an issue with the OS that when clearing the trash, it does no free up disk space. I created a 2 GB file to test this and when I cleared it through trash, disk space was not freed. After some research, I learned that this is happening because the system is only deleting the file location indicator and not the file itself. I believe this issue applies to all newer Mac OS's. What I want to know is that is there any way to erase files that have already been cleared (through either 3rd party software or others)? I know that an older version of macOS (forgot which one) had this support in disk utility. I would love for the feature to come back. I have already stopped using the trash and I now shred files, but the files that I have already deleted through trash are still taking up disk spaceThank you

G-Drive SSD R-Series Not Deleting Files I am using the G-Drive SSD R-Series for files and backing up my MacBook Pro. It was working great, but now I delete files and the available space does not increase. It shows 276 MB purgeable, and I can't figure out how to get those files deleted. I am in marketing, and I also utilize it to save a lot of high resolution images. At this point there is not enough space to backup my computer, and I've deleted a lot of large files that I would have kept...but when I deleted them the space did not change.
