Virus scan scam?

I just got a pop-up sayin "Your system is infeted with 3 viruses!" It wanted me to click within 2 minutes to prevent permanent damage. "Our deep scan will provide help immediately!"

It has a logo for Apple Care Protection Plan. (I don't believe I signed up for the protection plan) I believe it to be a scam and did not click. Anyone else experience this?

Below is a screen shot.

It's a scam. No one can know what's on your Mac, not even Apple. Do not respond.

Apple will never initiate contact with you. In a message Apple will always address you by your real name, never by your email address or Dear Customer. Also the sent-from address should be @apple.com or @itunes.com Additionally Apple does not send attachments.

I received the same message. Just ignore it! I don't have Apple Care either, that's how I knew it was a scam. Also, just seemed not right. For good measure, I went through my Apple computer and checked for security updates and ran the C Cleaner, which I needed to do anyway. When in doubt, always go through your own 'tried and true' path on your computer to check things out if you have any doubts. I never respond to pop ups messages.
