iOS 11.4 battery drain
[Re-Titled by Host]

To everyone having battery issues on iOS 11.4.
What has everyone tried?
Have any of you tried a hard reset of your iPhone 6/6S by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons until your iPhone goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
How much free data storage space is left on your iPhone?
iDevices need to always maintain, at the very least, between 2-3 GBs, OR GREATER, of free data storage space.
In Settings app, under General settings, Reset panel, at the right bottom of the list, Reset All Settings.
In Settings App, Battery, check to see if any apps/processes are eating up your battery.
In Settings app, General settings panel, turn OFF Background App Refresh for any apps you feel do not need constant data updating/Internet updating in the background when not using the an app OR turn OFF Background App Refresh entirely/globally for the entire device.
Do the same in the Settings app under Notifications.Turn off notifications for apps you do not think you need notifications for and/or edit the different ways you receive notifications to help with performance by not always using all the notification methods together.
In Settings app under Mail, you may want to set a longer fetch time or set your iOS Mail app to only manually fetch your mail ONLY when you launch the iOS Mail app.
In Settings app (NOT from the iOS Control Panel) turn OFF Bluetooth when not using any Bluetooth devices.
Also, in general, if you want a faster IDevice, on all of my iDevices, I turn off most of the iOS motion graphics eye candy, by simply turning ON Reduce Motion in Settings app, General, Accessibilty settings.
Make sure you aren't running 30 -50 OR EVEN MORE background apps in the iOS 11 Control Panel/App Switcher.
If you are, you need to quit the bulk of these background running apps by tap and hold a finger on an app window in the switcher and slide your finger upwards to quit an app. You should be able to use more than one finger to quit more than one app window simultaneously.
Also, make sure you don’t have 20-50 OR A WHOLE LOT MORE of active website tabs running in the web browser.
If you do, greatly reduce the amount of active website tabs your web browser.
Some minority of user have been turning ON and leaving ON iCloud backups continuously backing up on a constant and daily basis.
If you are one of these users, in Settings App, tap your Apple ID, then tap iCloud, then find iCloud backup and turn off iCloud backup and only turn this on to do daily backups either when you are not using your iPhone for a prolonged period of time (like when you are sleeping), then turn iCloud backups OFF when actually using your iPhone.
OR
Only perform your backups on a lesser time schedule.( like twice a week, once a week, once every two weeks, once a month, etc.).
Any large amount of background running apps or active processes that have to constantly go out to the Web to fetch data ALL THE TIME is going to slow down ANY iDevice and also, severely impact battery life.
In addition to all of the possible fixes and solutions presented, another iPhone 6S user, in another single posting in the iPhone support communities, suggested to go into Settings, General, Accessibility, Increase Contrast and turn ON Reduce Transparency.
Your iPhone 6/6S won’t look as pretty, but that user reported that his iPhone 6/6S speed improved considerably.
If none of this, so far, has helped your iPhone 6,/6S,
What about doing a complete backup to iCloud or iTunes on a computer, then do a complete erase and reset as new in the Settings app under General, Reset then restore your backup from iCloud or iTunes?
If still no joy after the erase and restore, hammer Apple with constant feedback about the iPhone 6/6S issues here.
iPhone Feedback
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
This is THE ONLY avenue to get Apple’s DIRECT attention to any and all iPhone 6 issues!
IF no one continues to post regular feedback about iPhone 6/6S issues, Apple will NEVER know there is an issue and will never correct it!
Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the appropriate Apple personnel , but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.
Good Luck to You All!
I had the same issue with my SE after 11.4.
I updated to 11.4.1 yesterday and today it seems my battery is not draining. Have lost only 2% since unplugging 7 hours ago.
Yes, everyone should contact Apple Support, it's no use just having a moan in this community.
I have the same issue with my 6S+. It was fine before the update. And my battery health is at 90% yet I just watched my battery % drop from 50% to 20% in a matter of minutes while not using it. I’ve looked through all the settings and can’t see anything I’ve previously had turned off turn back on with this new update in regards to saving battery life. Whatever it is that’s causing it they need to fix it ASAP
Same here. I'm very strict when comes to services enabled on my iPhone 6s so the battery usually lasts for over 24h if I don't use Maps. After the upgrade to 11.4 I have 2% of my battery after 11 hours. It now lasts less than half of the original time it did before the upgrade.
Same problem here, iPhone 6s and iPad Mini 4. 11.3.1 was ok, 11.4 is terrible battery-wise. My iPad is dead by the morning (I used to charge it once every 3-4 days before), and I have to charge my phone several times a day. What’s even worse, Apple stopped signing 11.3.1 already, so there’s no way back.
Same here. Battery is very unreliable, especially when any app is using Background Activity. I have a 6S with Battery Health of 84% which I know isnt great but with iOS 11.3 I could easily stretch out to a working day. With iOS11.4 I have to charge before lunch. For example my fully charged phone was unplugged at 7am this morning and now at 9:15am it's at 56%. Due to this software bug in iOS11.4 I'm going to have to pay to get my battery replaced.
The battery draining issue on my iphone 6s stopped for 2 days then it happened again last night. I charged it up to 100% before going to bed, closed all the apps running in the background, and let the phone in stand by for 12 hours, in the morning, my battery reading is 10%. I just changed my battery couple months ago, and had been following all the suggestions to overcome this issue, the problem seems in the ios 11.4. Hope Apple will fix this soon.
Agreed. My iPad Mini is showing the same issue. I think it’s better if I have Wifi location services off but it still seems to drain way too fast when on wifi and idle. Turning off location services is not a real solution. This is definitely an iOS bug.
I went to the Genius Bar and was told that all my settings and battery were fine. They suggested I reset my iPhone, which I did. Unfortunately, resetting my iPhone did not improve the battery drain.
So, I do think it is a problem with 11.4 since I never had this problem with previous updates.
I have also been experiencing SEVERE battery drain! iphone 6s plus with a new battery installed October 2017. Battery drain only started occurring after updating to iOS 11.4. I get less than 4 hours of use following charging to 100%. Most recently have been experiencing iOS shutdowns when battery indicator shows ~50% battery. The shutdown ends in a reboot loop with the white apple icon appearing and disappearing. Then reappearing and disappearing...and repeat. Only fix is to plug the phone into a charger connected to the wall outlet.
This seems to be an iOS 11.4 update issue. WORST UPDATE EVER!
WTH APPLE???! I have been a loyal apple customer since iphone 4. Apple is losing is luster...defection is imminent!
Fix this now Apple!
I have this issue with an iPhone 6. I had the battery replaced 2 months ago in the Apple store prior to ios 11.4 release. All good until 11.4. Battery drain is horrendous. 60% to 2% overnight with no use. They need to fix this immediately
Interesting is, that I was switch OFF WIFI.
But after some hours it is SWITCHED ON.
So I was SWITCH OFF it again, yesterday evening, before plug in charge.
Today morning WIFI was again ON.
I do not understand why WIFI is SWITCH ON automatically.
Yet another "same issue for me" reply. Both mine and my wife's 6s noticed huge battery drain after updating to 11.4. While I understand things can "take awhile to settle" after an update, I shouldn't have to scour the internet for a bunch of hacky fixes to a well established os. The settings I run on my phone have worked perfectly for the past 2 yrs, I see no need to have to adjust them just to address a battery drain issue that is clearly os related.
Here's to hopes that Apple will find and address our issue in 11.4+. Needless to say both phones had to be rolled back to 11.3.1, as the amount of drain seen rendered the phones relatively useless, unless we wanted to carry chargers around all day.
Hey Lawrence, with all due respect again, this is definitely an OS issue, and a big one. I have the problem too and it´s clear as day. I don´t care if it always happens, or if it affects just few people. It shouldn´t. Batteries don´t go bad like this overnight. It´s the first time my phone went from 84% to 74% in a meter of seconds. Stop assuming people are dumb/lazy. An iphone costs a fortune, and we shouldn´t have to lose hours trying to figure out how to solve an OS bug. Apple must solve this, period.
