No change going to 2.4. I took my phone off the charger last night before going to bed. It was 100 percent. Woke up this morning, 7 hours later, checked the battery and it was at 80 percent. If anything, it almost appears that going to 2.4 was actually worse. I will do the same test again tonight but back on 5g.
I've been having this problem as well and, in hopes of an early fix, I installed the profile to allow me to install developer betas on my phone. Yesterday I updated to 11.4.1b4 and, so far, it looks like my battery usage is back to normal. If you want to try this solution, here's an article describing how: https://www.imore.com/how-download-ios-11-developer-beta.
I didn't update until a few days ago, and I seem to be having the same problem with my iPhone 6. It had a new battery installed in February, but often, when I'm using it, it seemingly plummets from ~50% battery life to "shutting off" within a few minutes of use. This is a new development after months of great battery life and only showed up after allowing 11.4 to install. I was getting through an entire day and maybe hitting 20% in the evening with heavy use. None of the apps seem to be using an unreasonably amount of battery life. It all but renders the phone unusable.
Same here. And I feel like it’s getting worst. My phone is oncharge at the moment but battery is dropping every 1% per second. I turn off the wifi and it has improved slightly but still dropping from 18% to 14% as I’m writing this reply and it goes back up again to 16% and dropping again.
It’s the worst!! So frustrating.
a band aid, not a fix, that's getting me by: turn off wifi fully in settings, AND then switch all wifi dependent behaviors over to cellular - make sure to turn ON cellular data. also change all apps that might refresh often, like email or podcasts, to manually refresh only when opened. i also uninstalled facebook and facebook's messenger app just in case - on my pc facebook tends to refresh often, so i worry the phone might do the same. btw, i dont use bluetooth so i always have that turned off. after changing the above settings, i turned phone off then back on (settings/general/shutdown). i am now getting much stabler battery behavior and massively less drain as a result. wifi is the culprit for me, when turned off (after changing the dependent settings to cellular), i am getting less than 5% drain overnight in standby, when previously it was losing 70-80% - particularly from night til morn.
every part has a life . device battery works on the cycle counts and around 500 cycles it will works fine after this performance will start degreaded cause the battery is end of life or consumed condition so you have to change the battery . then it will works fine
because your battery life is end of the life so that's why its not giving the much backup to you. switch your network on 2g or 3g mode if your are not using the internet . dont keep your phone on vibration mode, remove the background apps and keep on your phone power saving mode it will automatically adjust the battery for you
what is the indicator that it is end of life? battery health says the maximum capacity is 100% and its currently supporting normal peak performance. mac console for my phone device says the health is good. coconutBattery says the cycle count is 100. all this suggests the battery is fine. why did the battery drain problem only start after the 11.4 upgrade. BTW I have a 2nd SE but a year newer and it has the same problem, I wish I had waited for the 1st installation to prove itself now.
there is a less chance that the indicator will indicate you your battery life has been consumed you have to change this but you can understand with the battery backup that the battery life has been consumed or the end of the life
I took my iPhone 6 to the local Apple store and the tech guy insisted it's not iOS 11.4 or had anything to do with the wi-fi -- so he reset my phone to factory settings.
That may have helped slightly, but it didn't solve the problem. The battery still drains much faster than it used to when it was iOS 11.3. I have to charge it at least everyday, even though I use it very little. I charged it before I went to bed last night and the battery dropped to 70% charge when I got up this morning. (If I turn off wi-fi overnight it doesn't drain at all!)
I used Safari for a few minutes and I literally watched the battery percentage drop while I was using it. My phone is useless.
Oh, I didn't backup my phone before he reset my phone because the new iOS changed my settings to iCloud backup, which I don't like to do (I prefer to backup to my laptop), so I lost all the current info and text messages when he reset it.
I've had it with Apple.
In german we say das ist schiesse😟😟😟😟
To be honest such a cheap response from apple. They should fix soon asap.
Um in such a terrible situation.
I thought my phone is dead.
Its battery showing 88% better comparing to new battery. Its the ******* ios 11.4 the culprit is!!!
They are not coming up with solution!!!
My problem is not only the ridiculous battery drain — but also all the Amazon and Anker charging cables that worked while I backed up my phones to iTunes, worked just fine for charging — as soon as iOS 11.4 started, those cables are no longer working! What is the freaking problem with Apple!?!? Are you **** bent on my next phone being a Samsung?!
[Tried to edit my post once the cable issue was solved.]
What is the freaking problem with Apple!?!? Are they **** bent on my next phone being a Samsung?! My 5S went from 70% to zero when 11.4 loaded! Red flashing empty battery and forlorn lightning cable. I restarted the phone twice, and it came back to 70, but started draining fast. My 6 was unfortunately already loading 11.4 by then. I will try to regress to 11.3.1 or any other working version. Both phones are in low-battery mode and plugged in. Not looking forward to traveling far from a charger at all. I have no confidence in Apple at all right now.
And now I am finding out that 11.3.1 is unsigned?!? For crying out loud, Apple! At least you could have rolled out this idiotic plan of yours when the next Samsung Note model comes out. Now I need to decide whether to buy a Note 8 or stay pen-less in a 9. If this unsigned 11.3.1 won’t take, and I still have this problem tomorrow, then it’s over. But I’ll be joining the 11.4 lawsuits for sure.
my wife an i had same bad battery drain issue after installing 11.4. both have 6s bought new when 6s first came out. both batteries condition at 90+%. we fixed wife's by setting wifi home connection to 2.5 from 5. this did not fix mine. with mine i went to control center and turned wifi off in the morning. phone now easily goes all day on a charge. i turn wifi on at night while phone is on charger. bottom line, at least with our phones there is something going on with wifi connections causing the drain. don't know why it's different between my wife's 6s and mine.
