Grey static using Apple TV 4K with 2018 model LG OLED TV

Hi All

I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K and use it with my LG OLED55C8PTA TV.

When doing this, intermittently the Apple TV shows a screen of total grey static and then seems to lose the connection to the Apple TV 4K altogether, almost like the HDMI cable has fallen out (which it has not!). To get the picture back I need to remove the HDMI cable from the Apple TV 4K and plug it back it. It works for a short period of time and then show the grey static and the lose connection to the TV again. It seems worse when viewing something in Dolby Vision but occurs viewing something in normal 4K also.

Has anyone else had something similar and / or know how to resolve it?

The HDMI cables are high speed and fine. The TV HDMI ports support HDCP 2.2 and 60fps @ 2160p. The Apple TV 4K is on the latest operating system update and LG TV is on the latest firmware update.

I also started noticing strange behaviour with my PS4 Pro and the common item between the 2 was the HDMI cables. So, I upgraded to the HDMI cable advertised on the Apple store and has worked seamlessly since, including Dolby Vision, etc. I did the same thing for the PS4 Pro and it also has been fine ever since

So, even though my HDMI cables were not old, they were quite fast enough for 4K and Dolby Vision

Consumer Reports is also not a fan of motion interpolation: Turn off these 3 features in your TV - Consumer Reports

Firmware 03.00.76 for that TV is pretty recent: 23/05/2018. Did you update within the last week?
