WhatsApp keep said I not enough space to backup, but I got more than it mention ?

I have an iPhone 6s Plus, with 64GB. I am paying for 50 GB a month on iCloud, of which I have 48GB available.

I am trying to backup and then delete Whatsapp in order to make more room on my phone but I am getting an error message that says "Not Enough iPhone Storage. Free up 2.1 GB of storage space on your iPhone to back up your chats."

This is frustrating - why am I paying for extra room on iCloud if I need more room on my iPhone in order to use it?

because you want additional iCloud storage - iCloud storage has nothing to do with your local iPhone storage, two totally different things and you can only increase local storage by purchasing a new phone - in some cases you can use iCloud to hold originals and keep smaller optimized version on you phone to save storage - this article explains more and has links to Apple support pages for many services to learn even more - iCloud Deconstructed
