canon MP270 scanner not working with high sierra

Upgraded to high sierra and found Solution Menu for Canon MP270 printer/scanner not working. Based on community suggestions I deleted printer in preferences and restarted. When I went to reselect found that I could not do so wirelessly (with printer plugged into time capsule), but was successful with it plugged into mac. However still no joy with Solution Menu, just keeps crashing. Have some limited scanner functionality if I manually select the scanner in preferences. Seems to print OK wired - haven't tried again wirelessly. Canon NZ, UK and Europe all say not supported in High Sierra. Any one got any suggestions?
