No sound for Google Maps via CarPlay

Never had a problem with this before now, but today I was unable to get voice directions for Google Maps while my iPhone 6 was plugged into CarPlay. I’m running iOS 11.3.1. Car is a 2016 Honda Accord.

I get Google Map’s voice directions just fine when my iPhone is NOT plugged into CarPlay, but the minute I plug it in, nada. It goes silent. I checked within the Google Maps app, and it is not muted.

I can get Apple Map‘s voice directions via CarPlay, but I deeply dislike Apple Maps and prefer not to use it. Siri, Apple Maps, and music work fine. It’s just the voice directions from Google Maps that aren’t working. Help welcome.
